Oh Baby!

Well here he is...Patrick James McDonald, III arrived May 16th at 7:35pm. He weighed in at 9lbss, 1 oz and measured 22 inches in length. He is a big boy! The day started out with us getting a call from the hospital at 8:15am telling us to head in to get induced. Once at the hospital we were in the room and hooked up to machines by 10:30am. For most of the day we just sat around trying to pass time playing cards and reading the paper. My water was broken after 3pm and things didn't get difficult until around 4pm. From about 4pm to 5:45pm the cotractions were hard and seemed to mainly be in my back and lower abdomen. This labor was nothing like the ones I have had before, it was much harder! At 5:45pm I had an epidural administered so I could relax and save my energy in order to bring this big boy into the world. I must say that the epidural was not as bad as what I thought. It gave me instant releif, but it also had some strange side effects. I was very shaky and I had a metallic taste in my mouth, which they say is normal. I was a bit nervous to attempt to push when the time came since I was not used to delivering with an epidural. But with only a few pushes he was here. He is doing great, nurses well and is very quiet unless he is hungry or needs a diaper change. I will put up more pics later on, but wanted to at least let everyone know he is here and doing well.
