ER

This afternoon was an interesting one with Jamie, everything with him is interesting these days. He was sleeping and I was actually getting ahead on making dinner, chicken pot pie, when all of a sudden he starts to scream like a mad man up in his room. I figured he was just shut in his room and he couldn't get out, so I go up and there he is sitting on his bed facing the wall screaming. He sounded like he was forcing a cry and then would cough. He would not settle down no matter what we did and he wouldn't talk to us to let us know what was wrong. I finally called the doctor office and got the nurse on call and she asked me lots of questions and to her it sounded like he was having a hard time breathing and we should take him to the ER. I figured we would go and he would get the nebulizer treatment and we would be on our way. Well he finally stops crying when we are in the car, guess the Barbie soundtrack helped calm him down, and then once to the ER he was back to himself in about 20 minutes. We see the doctor and he gives him a good once over and all he can find wrong with him is an ear infection, which he has tubes and I thought having those cut out the infections, but guess not. So we have the antibiotic Rx and I yet to fill it as I am not one that likes to give antibiotics as I think they don't do much for ears. But my mom urged me to get it filled, so I will go do that tomorrow to make her happy. While in the ER Jamie proceeded to bounce on the bed and act like his normal crazy self. After the triage nurse did her tests he said "that was fun" and then when the doctor poked in his ear he said "that hurts". He also said "dad, he touchin' my privates" when the doctor was making sure all the bits and pieces were ok....guess testicular torsion(or something like that) is an issue to be concerned with when you have a boy. The nurse said he speaks really well for someone just over two, and I told her it helps to have a very talkative older sister and an older brother who teaches you all kinds of neat words.
One new thing Jamie says is "what the heck mom", or whomever he is talking to. It is pretty darn funny, we got it on tape and I will post it later.
Anyways, that was our fun Saturday night....glad we had no date plans.
