we had a fun weekend as Pat's parents came to visit and stay with us for a few days. Saturday afternoon Pat's brother Mat and his wife Molly, who I went to college with and played soccer with, came over with their twin boys who are 4. It was a crazy afternoon of cousins playing and cooking food for a nice dinner. Sunday we just hung out, nothing major was planned and we just enjoyed hanging out.
Monday I went to have my knee checked, still no idea what really is going on, but the doctor told me to do PT for two weeks and then come back. Needless to say I have yet to even call the PT place and set that up as I am not really looking forward to attempting PT with Jamie. So I spoke to a friend who majored in sports medicine and she told me some things I can do to stregthen my leg in order to get my knee to stop hurting. When I go back in two weeks they will schedule a MRI if my knee is not better. I may go back and I may not, just depends what I feel like dealing with that day since Jamie and Kiera will have to come with me.
We are in the process of getting flooring put down in the dining room and kitchen. The carpet in the dining room was ruined and we had to rip it up. We are paying to have the new floor installed, but Pat is trying to get the old stuff ripped out as we didn't want to pay the extra $700 for that to be done. We still don't have the other house on the market, just have not even had the chance to get over and finish it up. Pat is going to take a few days off and get the work done over there. I am ready to sell it, but it is not bad since we don't have two mortgages, that would be very bad! The new house is coming along and we are getting more settled every day. We are kind of on hold with painting and things like that, we just need a break, and to be honest there are enough little projects around here that need to be done we don't need to add any new ones. I have started to brainstorm on what I want to do with the kitchen. I am thinking of painting it a shade of red...granted with cherry floors being put down I will have to wait and see. We will keep the cabinets and just give them a much needed face lift. Maybe we would get new doors and reconfigure some of the cabinets, but they are sturdy all wood cabinets that are still in good shape. I am thinking I would like dark grey or black counters, no idea what sort of material though. All the appliances are black, so I think it would be neat to have. I saw in a magazine that you can get old copper appliances kind of cheap, the stove was really neat looking.
The kids are doing well in their new schools. Andrew is getting used to the new way middle school runs. Kiera is making new friends and likes her teacher. I will go to her school next week to meet her teacher and see her classroom. Andrew's open house is sometime soon, but I have no clue when. They will track out on the 27th and be home for three weeks. Andrew will head off to camp for two weeks and we have no vacation plans during that time. With all the work we have to do around the two houses we don't really have any money left over for vacations. So I think we are going to do some "stay-cations". The free summer kids movies have been great. Jamie loves going although he does get a bit restless sometimes if the movie doesn't have enough action. We saw Kung Fu Panda, a Veggie Tales movie and Monsters vs Aliens.
And my kids are going through a major growth spurt this summer! They are eating more than ever, especially Kiera. I had to go get her new panties today since the size 6 she was in was cutting into her. So now she is in a size 8! And it seems her feet are growing like weeds, she is in a size 1, we tried the 13 1/2 and she said it was too tight, so she has big duck feet. Andrew is a size 6 boys in shoes or he can wear a size 7 woman's shoe.....his waist doesn't seem to grow though. He is in size 10 pants but he has to have a belt, otherwise they fall right off him. Jamie is a solid 3T, granted he has the same issue Andrew does and pants can fall right off him.
Sara is doing great, she is learning to not chase the cats. We have had some issues with the animals since moving here, guess it was realted to the move, but we seem to be getting back to normal. We have thought for some time that we may have to find a new home for the cats b/c Sara was being so obnoxious and chasing them and the cats would then be scared and poo everywhere other than their litter box. I read on a dog training website how to get the dog to learn the cat is higher than her in the hierarchy of the "pack". I have done a few things and Sara seems to be taking it in and learning that she is not at the top. We don't have a dog park really close, at least not as close as we did at the other house. I haev yet to take her b/c with the heat she usually just sits around and doesn't play. I have been taking her for walks at night and she does well with those. By the end she is good and tired.
That is all that is going on here, not too much, but enough to keep us busy!
