This is my almost 13 year old when he was 5...
For us 2010 ended without a big horray, mainly because we were all in bed well before midnight...I was actually a bit irritated at whomever decided to set of fireworks at midnight, July 4th is one thing as you set them off at dark, but midnight is a bit much in a residential area in my opinion. 2011 entered with not much hooplah too, typical weekend for us. We got the basement cleaned out for Andrew to have his 13th birthday party this coming weekend. I am going to have a teenager....holy crap. I read other blogs of people who have babies and they comment how fast the weeks pass and then the months and before you know it a whole year is gone. Just wait until your first born becomes a teenager, then you will really see how fast the time has gone by. Andrew is excited to have his friends over to play some ping pong, playstation
and have the music blaring, but they will all go home at 9:30pm, no way I am having teens spend the night at my house! Andrew hurt his arm while with his father over the Christmas break, it is sore and he has it in a soft splint for now. We will have to have it checked again next week to see how long he has to keep the splint.
Pat and I celebrated our wedding anniversary on the 29th, nothing major, ate way too much food and then wandered Target to try to settle the stomachs. We have been together for 10 years and married for 9...that time has flown by as well. We would like to do something really nice for our ten year anniversary, maybe a trip suring the summer, but it may have to wait depending on when we sell the darn house in WF. I called our agent today and told her to call me so we can discuss yet another price drop, it just needs to be sold regardless if we get anything from it. We had hoped to get something from it, but we are not willing to hold out any longer to see if anyone gives an offer at the price it is at now.
Kiera and Jamie are doing well. They are two little peas in a pod. Over the break they slept in each other's beds, mainly they slept in Kiera's since she has a double. Today Jamie seemed to be at a loss without her home, he just bummed around and didn't want to play with anything...it was sort of sad to see him look so lost without her. Next year when he is in school all day things may change, but I hope they stay close, it is very sweet to see them together.
No idea what I will do when he is in school all day. Maybe I will get the house in shape...or myself in shape??? I did put the first layer of primer up today in the kitchen, no more 70s wallpaper. I figure it will need two coats of primer and two coats of paint. It will look nice, even with the yellow laminate counters. Maybe we could update those one day!
Our dog has been doing ok, but it seems her hips are bothering her more. the doctor told me to cut back the long walks, but I enjoy them as much as she does, so I just kind of do what I want and give her a pain pill if she looks bad. I don't take her often, a few times a week, and we both need the fresh air and time away from everything. I want to try something new though in order to get my butt in shape, I just don't know what. We are thinking of joing the pool this summer, if we do they have lap time early each morning that I could go do, which I would LOVE as I love to swim. I don't run, hurts the knees and hips too much, and I need weights at home...maybe the kettleball would be good.
Life seems to have finally settled, no more babies is a good thing, even though the decision was hard. It is so nice to have all big kids, even though the little ones are still whiney at times. I look forward to them all being in school and I can volunteer where needed and when needed and not have to worry about preschool and only having three hours each morning to get anything done without children.
