Things I Noticed

I was laying in bed last night with Jamie, he wouldn't go to sleep, and while I was laying there I started to think about things you do when you become a mom or dad. Here are some of them:

- if shopping without kids and you hear some little voice call out "mom", you still turn and look
- being a parent is the only time you willingly put your face to someone's behind to smell for poop
- being a parent is the only time you are so concerned about a person's bodily functions, and you discuss them with everyone
- it is the only time you run towards someone who is throwing up instead of running away
- spit does clean any smudges off a child's face
- you now see why your parents told you to pick one, inside or outside, b/c hearing the door constatly open and close is really annoying
- you realize it is not ok to air condition the neighborhood by leaving the doors open
- money doesn't grow on trees
- you start to have an appreciation for your own parents and all the time and energy that was spent taking you to all your activities when you have a child involved in sports, dance and church
- how do little people create so many dirty clothes?
- "because I said so" is a perfectly good reason
- little people can test your patience more than big people
- you realize you can get by on less sleep than you did while in college
- no matter how bad a day, to see them sleeping and looking so angelic makes it all worth while
