Impetigo

I have never heard of this, but my child seems to have it. I took Jamie to the doctor this afternoon as he has a rash on his face, that I thought could be the rash one gets with strep. Well the doctor takes one look at him and says, "that is impetigo". I guess from his nose being so red and raw, the staph bacteria caused him to get the dreaded impetigo. He gave Jamie some Omnicef, and that should clear it up and he should be able to return to school on Monday.
It is also pretty contagious and you should not have close contact with someone who has this. Great news for a mom who has been kissing and snuggling with her child all week. Check it out on webmd, that is where I got some more info on the little rash on my childs face..which could ooze stuff and be crusty and nasty. Maybe next December I will place Jamie in a bubble so he won't get sick around the holidays. Wonder who will be sick next in our household???
