If you all will recall Jamie was sick last Christmas with some sort of crud that turned into walking pnuemonia. Well this year I should have guessed it would happen again. Granted it isn't Christmas yet, but still it sucks.
He woke up Saturday with crud in his eye and yuckies running out of it. By that night he was up coughing and jsut not a happy guy. Sunday rolls around and he has two nasty eyes and all the crud in his chest as well as the fevers. So we deal with the fevers all day and by 6pm he was at 102.6, so I call the nurse on call to ask if he should be taken in to the ER since he has a history of it getting into his chest. She says yes and I head to the local children's hospital, which I will never again go to in the evening, it was way crowded. So we get there at 8pm and we are seen pretty quickly by the nurse and she takes his temp, up to 104.6. She gives him Motrin which he promptly throws up and then she has to give him a Tylenol suppository...and did I mention the temp was taken rectally? He was no too thrilled after all that. Well two hours pass and he is running around in his gown, since his clothing was puked on he got a gown, and his temp was down, so I left. I never saw a doctor and I told the ER nurse that I would take him to his own doctor today, which we did. So we see his doctor today, by the way he had to have the gown on over his pj's, and he tells us he has no pnuemonia, no flu...just some sort of virus that has to run it's course. So we can expect his fevers to come and go for a few more days. So no school this week and hopefully he will not need to be seen by the doctor again. We worry that the virus will persist and the fevers will not go away, like last year, and he will just get worse. Hopefully this will not happen...pray it doesn't as I do not want a sick baby any longer than he has to be. What happened last night made me think of all the mom's that I read about on other blogs who have children who are critically ill and being sick is a daily thing. It made me realize how strong those women are, and how lucky their children are to have such strong and courageous mothers.
