So far so good

Sara has been here for almost a week and seems to be getting used to her new home. We decided to stick with Sara for the name as that is what we all have been calling her and nobody fussed about it. Of course we, meaning Kiera, decided that her full name will be Sara Rani Rosabella Snow. I can only imagine the names that child will come up with when she has her own kids!

So far Sara is proving to be a good dog. We take her on plenty of walks, she still pulls a bit at first but then calms down. Inside she has wonderful manners and stays on the floor at your feet and does not try to jump on you or get the kids food. She is learning the basic stuff like sit, down and stay...sometimes she does it and others she decides not to. She is very food motivated, so if you have a treat she will do anything you ask. She stays in her crate at night and when we are out. We figure this gives the cats a bit of freedom as well. For now the cats are staying out of Sara's way. They are either under a bed or in the garage. Sara seems to big to fit through the kittie door and has yet to try, so let's hope that doesn't change. Sara really seems to be happiest when outside with all of us. She has already torn through three tennis balls, so we bought her a new indestructible ball. She loves to be out in the yard while I work and the kids play and just be around people. She does tend to follow me from room to room, she just doesn't want to be alone, which is fine by me.
She is still a bit camera shy and this is not the best one of her, but at least you can see her pretty face.

Wow, she looks like such a pretty dog! I've always heard great things about German Shepards, especially with kids. You really are amazing, I don't know how you do it all...3 kids and a new dog! We need to figure out a time to get together soon. Take care, Jess E
